In terms of upcoming events in
Santa Fe, please mark the following on your calendars:
If you missed Susana Guillaume's
wonderful show, "Girl Facing West" this past fall, you
have a chance to see it this month! I will be directing
again and she will have two performances February 29 and
Mar.1. at the Railyard. You can see an except from it on
my You Tube Page. The link is
http://youtube.com/projectlifestories. You can also
check out some other performances on YouTube including
monologues from Gender Bender, The Soul of Aging and
Michelle Vest's show, "Sole Survivor's", all of which I
directed last fall. (I was busy!!!)
This year, Project Life Stories
will be creating a new event called The New Mexico
Monologue Slam. It will be similar to poetry slams
across the country. Each participant will create a 5
minute monologue (either personal storytelling or a
character) and perform it to a live audience. If you are
interested in performing in the first show, please let
me know! It's going to be a blast and a great chance to
perform a short piece. The winner of each evening will
get a $100 prize and it will be great fun for audiences
as well.
We'll be having our first event at
the beginning of April, in Santa Fe so stay posted for
the details!
Lastly, I will be working with
folks who have been affected by mental illness, either
their own, or a family member's in a monologue
performance of "Minds Interrupted" at the Armory for the
Arts on March 15. Rep. Tom Udall, who has dealt with
mental illness in a family member will be introducing
the evening.
If you live out of town and are
chomping at the bit to create your own one-person show~
This year, for the first time, I
will be doing a few, one weekend intensives called "An
Introduction to Creating a One- Person Show" - So, for
all my performance friends out there in Chicago, The Bay
Area, Austin, NYC (you know who you are!!!) and anywhere
else --please consider coming to beautiful and inspiring
Santa Fe for a weekend of improvisation, writing and
tools to help you get started on your own show. Just
imagine yourself, a year from now, ready to step onstage
in your own hometown performing your one person show!!!
Dates will be up on my website
within the month. I suggest signing up early as each
group will be limited to ten people.
Love, Peace and Performance!!!!!
